BCMA-Targeted CAR T-Cell Therapy for Multiple Myeloma
A personalized cellular immunotherapy investigational approach using a patient’s own immune cells, genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) designed to recognize B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA).
Our research program integrates synthetic immunology, viral vector engineering, and cGMP cell expansion to explore a targeted biological option for patients with difficult-to-treat and relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma.

Understanding Multiple Myeloma
Multiple myeloma is a hematologic malignancy that arises from abnormal plasma cells within the bone marrow. Plasma cells normally generate antibodies that protect the body from pathogen infection.
In multiple myeloma, malignant plasma cells proliferate uncontrollably and accumulate in the marrow, displacing normal hematopoietic elements and causing severe bone lesions, hypercalcemia, renal impairment, anemia, and immune compromise. Despite advances in proteasome inhibitors and immunomodulatory drugs, relapsed disease remains a profound clinical challenge.
Why target BCMA?
B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA, also known as CD269 / TNFRSF17) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, critical for plasma cell survival and differentiation.
Importantly, BCMA is selectively and universally expressed across malignant myeloma cells, while being nearly absent on non-hematologic tissues and normal memory B cells. Equipping autologous T cells with a high-affinity synthetic anti-BCMA CAR enables precise redirected immune targeting directly to tumor cells.
How BCMA-targeted CAR T-cell therapy works
Transforming a patient’s own immune cells into an investigational living drug through a multi-step biomanufacturing cycle.
Collecting T cells
Patient’s own white blood cells are collected via a standard leukapheresis procedure, enriched for primary T cells, and transported under temperature-controlled conditions to our cleanrooms.
Engineering T cells
T cells are activated and genetically reprogrammed using a specialized viral vector to integrate the anti-BCMA chimeric antigen receptor construct into the cellular genome.
Expansion & QC
Engineered CAR T cells proliferate in automated closed bioreactors, undergoing multi-point analytical testing for viability, vector copy number, sterility, and target cytolytic activity.
Returning cells
Following lymphodepleting preparation, the personalized cellular product is cryopreserved, shipped via verified vapor shipper, and infused intravenously to seek out BCMA-positive targets.
